Muddy boots, wagon rides and a pumpkin that is too heavy to carry. Here are 12 pumpkin patches around Vancouver worth your Saturday.
Pumpkin season is short here. Most patches open in late September and close on October 31. Many also get very busy on weekends and on Thanksgiving Monday (October 12 this year).
We checked each farm’s own website for its 2026 dates, hours and prices. Some farms sell timed tickets online, some sell only at the gate, and a few include a pumpkin in the ticket. Those details matter, so they are listed for every farm below.

📋 Tips for a better pumpkin patch day
- Go on a weekday if you can. Weekday prices are lower at several farms (Richmond, Hazelmere, Laity), and the fields are calmer.
- Read what the ticket includes. At Richmond Country Farms, Southlands and Port Kells the pumpkin is included. At most others, pumpkins are sold by size on top of admission.
- Wear boots, not sneakers. This is the Lower Mainland in October. Fields turn to mud after rain.
- Bring a wagon or a strong bag. Large pumpkins are heavy. Some farms have wagons, but they run out on busy days.
- Arrive early on weekends. Mid-morning on a Saturday is peak time, especially on Thanksgiving weekend (Oct 10–12).
- Ask before bringing a dog. Rules differ by farm, and farms with animals often say no.
- Pick a pumpkin with a solid green stem. Do not carry it by the stem. It snaps easily, and a broken stem makes the pumpkin rot faster.
Pumpkin patches are one of the easiest fall traditions to start, even if this is your first autumn in Canada. Pick a farm close to home, check its hours that morning, pull on your boots, and let the kids choose the lumpy, crooked pumpkin nobody else wanted. That is usually the one everyone remembers.
