1

You and your family

Your spouse’s situation decides which points table applies.

2

Education

Foreign credentials need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

3

Language

Pick your test and enter your scores. We convert them to CLB/NCLC with IRCC’s charts.

Your first official language is the one you are strongest in. Only IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada are accepted. Not sure of your level? Try our IELTS to CLB converter.

4

Work experience

Skilled work only (TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3), full-time or equal part-time, in the last 10 years.

5

Additional points

Up to 600 points in total.

Job offer: IRCC removed CRS points for arranged employment on March 25, 2025. A job offer can still help you qualify for some programs, but it no longer adds points.

How the CRS score is calculated

The Comprehensive Ranking System ranks every candidate in the Express Entry pool out of 1,200 points. IRCC invites the highest-ranked candidates in each draw. Your score has four parts:

PartWhat countsMax, singleMax, with spouse
A. Core human capitalAge, education, first and second language, Canadian work experience500460
B. Spouse factorsSpouse’s education, language and Canadian work experience—40
C. Skill transferabilityCombinations of education, language, foreign and Canadian experience, trade certificate100100
D. Additional pointsProvincial nomination, French, Canadian study, sibling600600

If your spouse is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or is not coming with you, you are scored as a single applicant. That usually gives you more points for your own age, education and language.

Age points (single applicant)

Age181920–293032353840424445+
Points99105110105947761502860

After 30 you lose about 5 to 11 points each birthday. If you are close to a birthday, it can be worth submitting your profile or application before it.

Skill transferability: why CLB 9 matters

Skill transferability rewards combinations. A post-secondary degree plus CLB 9 in all four skills earns up to 50 points, but the same degree with CLB 7 earns only 13 to 25. Foreign work experience works the same way. That is why raising your language from CLB 8 to CLB 9 is often the single biggest jump you can make, sometimes 50 points or more in total.

2026 Express Entry draws: cut-off scores

Draws in 2026 have been almost entirely targeted by program or category. Your score only competes in the draws you are eligible for. Figures from IRCC’s official rounds data, January 1 to September 16, 2026.

How accurate is this CRS calculator?

It uses the same points tables IRCC publishes, checked in September 2026. If your inputs match what you will declare in your profile, the score should match. Differences usually come from the inputs, not the math:

  • Education level: use the level on your ECA report, not the name of your degree.
  • Work experience: only skilled work (TEER 0–3) counts, and work while you were a full-time student does not count.
  • Language: each skill is converted separately, and results must be less than two years old.
  • Age: points are based on your age when you submit your profile and again when you apply.

IRCC’s own CRS tool is the official reference. Only the score in your Express Entry profile counts.

Proposed changes: In April 2026, IRCC consulted on a major CRS reform, including points for high-wage jobs and possible cuts to points for Canadian study, siblings, French and the spouse grid. None of this is in effect. This calculator uses the current rules.
