Canada Tourist Visa Requirements

Since September 2021, the general requirements for a Canadian tourist visa (officially known as a Temporary Resident Visa or TRV) were as follows:

  1. Application form: Complete the online application form IMM 5257 and any required supplementary forms.
  2. Passport: A valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining and at least one blank page for the visa.
  3. Passport-sized photos: Two recent passport-sized photographs following Canadian photo specifications.
  4. Proof of financial support: Provide evidence that you have enough funds to cover your stay in Canada, such as bank statements or an employment letter.
  5. Travel itinerary: Provide a detailed plan of your trip, including information on your transportation, accommodations, and activities.
  6. Purpose of visit: Explain the reason for your visit, which should be consistent with the purpose of a tourist visa (e.g., sightseeing, visiting friends or family, attending a conference).
  7. Ties to your home country: Offer evidence of your strong ties to your home country, such as employment, property ownership, or family, to demonstrate your intention to return after your trip.
  8. Medical examination: Depending on the length of your stay and the country you are coming from, you may be required to undergo a medical examination.
  9. Biometrics: You might need to provide your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) if you are from a country that requires biometrics for visa applications. Check this list to see if this requirement applies to you.

Please note that these requirements may have changed since my last update. I strongly advise you to check the official website of the Government of Canada or consult the nearest Canadian consulate or embassy to confirm the most recent requirements for a Canadian tourist visa.
