How BC PNP points are calculated

B.C.’s Skills Immigration program uses a registration score, often called the SIRS score, to rank candidates in its pool. You register for free, and the BC PNP invites candidates to apply in regular draws. The maximum score is 200, split into human capital factors (120) and economic factors (80).

Add 10 points if you have valid English and French tests with CLB 4 or higher in every skill on both. Unlike Express Entry, BC PNP scores your lowest skill, so one weak skill pulls down the whole factor.

Hourly wage (max 55) and area (max 25)

Wage points rise by 1 point for every dollar: $16.00–$16.99 an hour earns 1 point, $35.00–$35.99 earns 20, and $70.00 or more earns the maximum 55. If your offer is annual, the BC PNP divides it by 52 weeks and by your weekly hours, using no fewer than 30 and no more than 40 hours.

Requirements, process and fees

Skilled Worker stream: key requirements

  • A full-time, indeterminate (no end date) job offer in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation from an eligible B.C. employer, who supports your application. Some tech, teaching and university roles may qualify with a limited-term offer of at least one year.
  • At least 2 years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in the last 10 years. This is separate from the directly related experience that is scored.
  • CLB 4 in all four skills if your job offer is TEER 2 or 3. For TEER 0 or 1, a test is optional unless you claim language points.
  • The education, licences and certifications your occupation requires, and wages that meet B.C. standards and minimum income levels.
  • Some occupations are not eligible for any Skills Immigration stream, including several administrative, sales and service roles (for example executive assistants and bookkeepers). Check the list on WelcomeBC before registering.

The Health Authority stream is for workers hired by a B.C. public health authority. You can apply directly without a registration.

Step by step

  1. Register in the BCPNP Online portal. It’s free, and your registration stays in the pool for up to 12 months.
  2. Wait for an invitation to apply (ITA). Invitations are based on your score and on B.C.’s targeted priorities.
  3. Apply within 30 calendar days of the invitation. This deadline can’t be extended. The application fee is $1,750.
  4. Get nominated, then apply to IRCC for permanent residence. If you registered with the Express Entry BC (EEBC) option, the nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score.

Check your details carefully. Everything in your registration is verified when you apply. If the corrected score falls below the draw’s minimum, or you no longer match the targeted group, your application can be refused. The BC PNP also warns that wages inflated to gain points will not be approved.
